The team at Wit & Delight shows us how you can create the perfect brunch for your gals, without breaking the bank. As big fans of BIY (buying it yourself) over DIY, they have created a lazy girl's guide to hosting a memorable afternoon with your squad while keeping the focus on your friendships and spending time together.
When constructing party DIY's, it can become a multitude of Pinterest fails if not executed properly. Here’s a quick list of what to buy vs. attempt yourself. It’ll save you time and energy so that you can spend more of the party sipping on rosé and snapping cute pictures to remember the occasion.
The Decor:
Ribbon Garland: Threshold from Target. Each garland was only $7.49 and were so easily hung to the wall with a little Museum wax. The garland is the perfect addition to any blank wall in your kitchen or dining room. Don’t be afraid to switch up anything you BIY, especially when all it takes is a few snips of the scissors.
Plates: Why take away time with your gals washing dishes in the kitchen? Our tableware is sure to match any occasion – but without the cleanup. (Featured above, Goddess- White Marble Small Plates & Peach Blush Striped Large Plates).
Runner: Runners are a simple way to incorporate texture and add design to any tablescape. This runner was a bit of a splurge, however it will be used for future occasions (something to keep in mind when making costlier purchases). It’s from Anthropologie and was the perfect tie-in for the tablescape. They also complmented it with some scalloped, mercury glass candles, also from Anthro.
Florals: It might seem a bit much to order flowers for a small gathering, but it’s a good excuse to treat yourself to some blooms. Plus, you don’t have to do much else to dress up the table. These beautiful arrangements are from Spruce – for one large arrangement, or a couple of small arrangements, the prices are super affordable.
The Food: – One of the best tricks when you can't or don't want to cook, is to buy food from local shops and serve it on your own trays. Glam Doll in Minneapolis was the perfect choice for our gals. Combine donuts with fruit, store-bought quiche and lots of sparkling rosé, add your own pretty party ware and serve!
The DIY? Name cards! The paper name cards are from Paper Source and used an embosser to give everyone a stylish card. You could also easily do this with a fun colored pen to personalize your table.
Finally – party favors. Offering a little takeaway for your guests is such a nice surprise and leaves guests with something to remember. These Karuna sheet face masks will for sure be used by your friends – perhaps even used during the brunch with an extra glass of rosé as a self-care treat. Other ideas could include nail polish, hand lotion, or mini candles which can be picked up while out running party errands.
